Product Developer Apparel

Mercer Amsterdam B.V. is looking for a Product Developer for our Apparel category to be responsible for our apparel offering from A to Z.

 

Mercer Amsterdam is a high-end sustainable footwear and apparel brand from Amsterdam, our office is right in the centre of the greatest neighborhoods in Amsterdam: De Pijp; in the same building as our brand-store. We sell to about 130 retailers in 10 countries worldwide with our own brandstore and webshop being key focus points – always with the same vision of American-inspired and sustainable footwear and apparel. The company is entrepreneurial minded, fast-paced and outgoing.

 

This role will partner with the head of design to create a full range of apparel for both men and women together with the team. The creation process exists of creating themes for our seasonal collections, coming up with new creative ideas for details, creating tech-packs for our factories, assisting in the sourcing of fabrics and maintaining day-to-day relations with our factories.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing design skills to create product that matches the brand DNA
  • Interacting constantly with team members to deliver the appropriate execution for the target consumer audience
  • Ensuring design practicality and meeting merchandising business needs
  • Striving to create apparel that meets relevance and leverages the brand DNA of style, American-inspired heritage and sustainability
  • Monitor product development to ensure style, fit, quality, detail requirements
  • Deliver Inspiration, style & product concept boards or sketches
  • Materials selection
  • Color application
  • Preparation and creation of technical CAD drawings
  • Meet expectations on accuracy and on-time delivery along product calendar
  • Facilitate agile decision making on prototype review and revision
  • Develop awareness of our channel of distribution

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or (equivalent) in Apparel or Consumer Product Design
  • 1+ years of Apparel Product Design with similar brand(s) or organization(s) where brand DNA is key
  • Extensive knowledge and keen interest in apparel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strength in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast environment and the flexibility to manage and adapt to change
